Georgia’s Weatherization Program
The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) administers Georgia’s weatherization program. The program provides cost-effective energy efficient upgrades to residents of Georgia that meet established income criteria. The Georgia Weatherization Program helps residents of Georgia cut high utility bills, and increase safety and comfort of their homes.
Housing types eligible for the program include mobile homes, single-family houses and multifamily units. Both homeowners and renters are eligible.
The most frequent weatherization services performed in Georgia are weather-stripping and caulking, replacing a high-energy consuming refrigerator with an energy-efficient refrigerator, replacing glass panes/windows, installing insulation, replacing incandescent bulbs with CFL bulbs, repairing/replacing the heating unit, installing carbon monoxide detectors. People over 60 years of age, persons with disabilities and families with children are given preference in the program.
