Alabama Power is an Energy Star partner in Alabama. Alabama Power has a variety of incentives to help those interested in upgrading their homes for energy efficiency.  Alabama has received a state funding to establish an ENERGY STAR appliance rebate program. Alabama Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The LIHEAP program helps low-income residents pay their energy bills. The program funding is provided from the grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Alabama Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)

The WAP program is run by ADECA – the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and funded through the US DOE. Weatherization assistance is offered to low-income households in all 67 Alabama counties. Typical weatherization upgrades include installing insulation, HVAC repairs and tune-ups, weatherstripping windows and doors and replacing incandescent light bulbs with CFL bulbs. The applicant’s income must not exceed 200 percent of the federally established poverty level to be qualified for financial help.
